Our Little Superhero

At our last visit with Kennedy's Endocrinologist doctor at Children's Mercy Hospital, he called her a superhero. He told her that it was ok to be mad at her diabetes and to not like it sometimes. He told her that she was his superhero and that he hoped to be as strong and brave as she is someday. Then he gave her a high five and left. Kennedy looked at me with such excitement in her eyes, one I will not soon forget and she said, "He thinks I'm a superhero." Of course as he spoke to her I was crying like a baby because with that simple exchange he said everything Ben and I think of her everyday. Kennedy received her medal and trophy for participating in the JDRF walk in the mail this weekend. She has proudly worn the medal everyday and asked me to take a picture of her with the medal and trophy. So here is our superhero.
