He Said Cure

Kennedy is: strong, brave, funny, silly, beautiful, amazing, lively, tough, stubborn, creative, imaginative, excited, kind, loving, quirky, and diabetic. Although diabetes is a part of her, it does not define her, it is not who she is. This disease has taken hold of our lives and is something we deal with on a daily basis, but as we learn daily about it, we also discover the strength each member of our family carries with them. Ben and his ability to make Kennedy laugh after she pulls out her sight and to keep me sane and smiling, my mom's ability to poke her grandchild's finger every few hours on a daily basis, my dad's ability to teach Kennedy new songs that we sing while we change her pump sight and keep her mind off of what we are doing, Chris' ability to just hug her and get her to hug back, Ben's parents bravery to babysit Kennedy for a few hours here and there while they are scared to death, and GG testing Kennedy's blood sugar for the first time ever. These strengths have always been there, but they seem to stand out a little more to us than ever before. So while diabetes isn't who Kennedy is, it is a part of her life and a part of ours. So when I heard this MSNBC news special by Brian Williams and heard him use the word "cure", I was stunned, ecstatic and most of all full of hope. How lovely would it be to describe Kennedy as all of the things above while dropping off the last one...lovely. I've watched this over and over and my hope with sharing this with you is that your prayers and hopes continue along with ours, because they are working!
